Digital Mystikz, Juan Atkins and more at Glade

The second wave of acts playing this year’s Glade festival has been announced, and includes Booka Shade, Squarepusher and Detroit techno originator Juan Atkins.

As both a solo artist and a member of groups such as Model 500 and Cybotron, Juan Atkins channelled the astral funk of Parliament/Funkadelic into a Kraftwerk-influenced electro minimalism, thereby kinda inventing techno (though the other members of the so-called ‘Belleville Three’, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson, have no less a claim). After a fair old hiatus, Squarepusher has returned to the stage recently, playing in support of his latest album for Warp, Just A Souvenir. Booka Shade, the Berlin-based duo behind such dancefloor anthems as ‘Mandarine Girl’ and ‘Body Language’, will be appearing in their massively popular live incarnation.

They join the previously confirmed headliner Underworld, who’ll be wheeling out their visually stunning live show for their only UK festival appearance of 2009. Other FACT favourites newly announced include Digital Mystikz and Raffertie. The full line-up so far is as follows:

The festival takes kicks off on Thursday 16th July and runs through to Sunday 19th July. Tickets are £125, or £99 if you’re a student. Get ‘em at gladefestival.com
