Bok Bok, one half of the duo behind London club night Night Slugs, has seen his profile raised in several ways this year – his DJ sets have reached new levels of acclaim, resulting in a Stateside tour with partner in crime L-Vis 1990, and the status of Night Slugs continues to rise, the night now sporting its own label. But the most significant development of Bok Bok’s 2009 regards his own productions, which now match the quality of his wide-reaching DJ sets.

Fresh from the release of his first two vinyl singles comes this gem, tucked away on the digital, er, flipside to Swedish vocalist Jinder (formally Little Jinder)’s ‘Youth Blood’. Fans of said vinyl singles will recognize Bok Bok’s trademark drums in an instant, but whereas the percussion felt like the focus of those tracks, here the tribal house drums float and bob in an electric sea of neon synths, resulting in a cyber-pop odyssey that should appeal to fans of both Prince and Egyptrixx.
