This album is just jaw-droppingly good. I became excited for the album through Norway which I preferred to any previous Beach House song. It turns out every single song on Teen Dream is just stunning.

I certainly don't think Beach House have been riding in on anyone's “slipstream” and they already poked their heads above obscurity the minute “Gila” started hitting the blogs back in 2008. Their first two albums were also very well received and reviewed overall. I can't help but feel like you guys seriously missed the boat on this one.

You clearly had it out for Beach House way before you listened to this album. “American Apparel makeover”? Who are you? How snobby and bitter can you be in once sentence? oh wait! “The brief splutters of electronic phlegm that appear now and then simply feel like token gestures to mollify those who think Panda Bear is avant-garde.” maybe it just sounds good. Get over yourself.

I'm not worried about the opinion here so much as the built-in bias delivered right from word one, especially because the writer then uses those “Best of 09″ bands as a basis for comparison. Can't really have it both ways. Also, you can describe music with out comparison, and if you do use comparison, there was music made more than ten years ago.
