LCD Soundsystem album: tracklist revealed

LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy today revealed, via an interview with Pitchfork, that the new LCD Soundsystem album is pretty much done.

“I’m actually going home from this to listen to the revised mastering”, Murphy tells the Chicago mag, before revealing that the first single from it will either be called ‘Drunk Girls’ or ‘I Can Change.’

“They’re both pretty different from one another. Those are the only things they can use really; the album is nine songs and 65 minutes long, which is somewhat embarrassing. ‘Drunk Girls’ is about drunk people and fun things and the fact that all of the boys of the L.A. mansion we recorded at were called “the girls” by our chef. We were the ladies of the mansion.”

Murphy mostly talks about the soundtrack he’s made for Greenberg, which features more new material from the indie dance deity. “I went to L.A. for three months, worked on the LCD record and went to some of the film’s shooting. I was splitting my time.

“Then Noah [Baumbach, director of Greenberg] and I went back to New York and he was editing the movie right across the street from my recording studio, by total coincidence. I thought it wouldn’t take that long to do the movie soundtrack, but if the edit takes months, so does the soundtrack. So I didn’t really get to work on the LCD record much during that time. But it’s finally done now. There are a lot of frustrated people at my label and I have shows booked before the album comes out, but it’s done.”

Update: Dummy Mag’s blog and Gigwise are now reporting that the release date for the album is May 17, and the tracklist is as follows:

Dance Yrself Clean
Drunk Girls
One Touch
All I Want
Change
Hit
Pow Pow
Somebody’s Calling Me
What You Need

That doesn’t seem to be anywhere else, so we wouldn’t take it as gospel just yet.

It's wrong. Love in L.A. is def on the album.

    I have a copy of it. It's 11mins and 25secs.

Theres another track, at the stage I have its an instrumental. It's 15:41 and has maybe the best sounding synth james has ever used. So great. Not sure the name of that one yet though.

Not to mention the tracklist ou have posted doesn't even include both the song titles he mentioned in the interview.

Oh, maybe I Can Change is now Change

Yeah, and 'Drunk Girls' is there. It's on Pitchfork now, same trackist. US release date is the following day.

I am going to be very surprised if Love in L.A. isn't on the album. Maybe it's been renamed. It could be Drunk Girls as it has a couple of girls talking about their dreams and whatnot but the lyric running throughout is “Love in L.A., why don't you take me home?”

It's not the best LCD song so maybe it got cut it just seemed so fleshed out even last summer.

If it's not on the album I'll hook yallz up and you can link back to me if you want.
