Most people with an internet connection and time on their hands know that Washed Out‘s Life of Leisure EP was one of 2009’s exemplary DIY pop records, but until now the only way for UK fans to get hold of it on vinyl has been to fork out for a pricey US import.

On June 14 Mexican Summer are set to release a UK vinyl edition of Life of Leisure which will also include a download coupon. Washed Out is the alter ego of Ernest Greene; his avowedly summery sound will find favour with fans of Toro Y Moi, Ducktails and Ariel Pink, though it’s more straightforwardly pop and accessible than any of theirs. Scattered throughout his songs are samples from obscure 1980s AM hits – ‘Feel It All Around’, for example, borrows from Gary Low’s 1983 single ‘I Want You’.

Greene will be playing a series of UK dates in support of the release:

Thu 27th May – LEEDS Nation of Shopkeepers
Fri 28th May – GLASGOW Stereo
Sat 29th May – BRISTOL Dot to Dot Festival
Sun 30th May – NOTTINGHAM Dot to Dot Festival
