US pop-collagists The Books return with a new album on July 20, entitled The Way Out.

It’s the first album in five years from the cult duo, whose 2003 offering The Lemon of Pink was ranked among FACT’s best albums of the 2000s.

We haven’t heard The Way Out yet, but a press release alleges that it “expands on the charm and intimacy of past endeavours with a deeper emotional resonance and an ever-impressive marriage of seemingly disparate sound worlds”, achieving a “precarious balance of beauty, absurdity and accessibility”.
