Ramp Recordings sister label Brainmath will follow its recent Brackles single (â6am El Gordosâ) with singles by Airhead and Bakongo, the first featuring a remix by Ostgut-Ton boss Nick Hoppner [above].
First up is Bakongo with the âAmharaâ 12â, then it’s time for Airhead. A production partner of James Blakeâs, the pairâs recent joint single for the Brainmath label was superb, and now Airheadâs solo ambient jaunt âPaper Streetâ, which features on Scubaâs Sub:stance mix CD for Ostgut-Ton, gets a release. Itâs backed with a remix by Hoppner, who we often talk about as one of the worldâs most underrated producers.
Following that is Airheadâs full solo album, Empty 9-Volts. We have no audio, or even a tracklist, release date or artwork yet, but we will have soon (we’d wager release date for the LP will be in about three months’ time). Watch out for a full FACT feature on Airhead nearer the time â heâs someone we have high hopes for.
