According to Canadian label Acephale’s Twitter account, Salem’s album is finished.

There are actually tons of Salems – one an Israeli metal band, one a rock group from Hull – but we’re talking about the Michigan trio of John Holland, Heather Marlatt and Jack Donoghue, who sprung on to radars in 2008 with the brilliant Water and Yes I Smoke Crack 7” EPs, and continued to intrigue with a series of limited singles and re-rubs of Gucci Mane, one of which featured on the recent Diplo-curated Free Gucci mixtape.

With a sound that’s somewhere between Big Black and the Cocteau Twins, with a lot of bassweight and the odd Southern hip-hop acapella, we’ve been waiting for Salem to release an album since we first heard ‘Redlights’. No details of the LP yet, other than it’s done, but keep it FACT for further updates.

Update: FACT reader and top-boy-DJ-producer Hyetal points out that we missed out this Salem. We won’t do it again.
