They’re a good bunch, the Red Bull Music Academy. They came to London this year, spent a ton of money, put on a ton of events (including a rammed Lock Tavern session with FACT) and ensured that a ton of good music was made in the process.
Today we’re giving you the chance to hear some of the collaborative music produced at this year’s academy. Both of these tracks appear on the Various Assets: Not for Sale compilation, which was available to participants in the Academy as well as press at Sonar and other events this year, but will not be made available to the public until later this month, so for most, this marks the first chance to get your hands on them.
Warp’s Hudson Mohawke [above] teams up with Robin Hannibal and Myele Manzanza for the sticky synth ‘n’ 808 slow-jam ‘Ain’t Nobody But You’, while fellow Scot Jackmaster, one of the men behind Numbers, jams with Mau’lin, Markur and Tony Nwachukwu on the classily named ‘UK Hunky’.
