Cocteau Twins’ classic LPs collected in vinyl box set

A highly desirable deluxe vinyl box set from the Cocteau Twins was released earlier this summer, but somehow escaped our attention.

The packaging and artwork is designed by 4AD’s Vaughan Oliver, and the set is comprised of four 180g pressings of the band’s classic long-form releases Head Over Heels, Head Over Heels / Sunburst & Snowblind, Garlands and Treasure.

Cocteau Twins were formed in 1979 by Robin Guthrie, Liz Frazer and Will Heggie. Heggie left the group in 1983, to be replaced by Simon Raymonde, whom Frazer and Guthrie had befriended when he was working at the Beggars Banquet record shop; it was this trio that that went on to create the band’s most iconic work. They called it a day in 1997, having released nine studio albums; their influence on dream-pop, shoegaze, ambient and numerous other strains of indie and electronic music has been lasting and profound.

All three members have remained highly active since Cocteau Twins’ demise, collaborating with the likes of Harold Budd, John Foxx, The Associates and Massive Attack.

hi, i didnt meet robin and elizabeth during This Mortal Coil recording no. I met them when i was working at Beggars Banquet shop in 1981 and became friends with them. I joined the band ahead of the Pearly Dewdrops’ Drops EP and the Treasure LP, this mortal coil came much later.
