Scientist’s real name is Hopeton Brown, and he received his nickname after dazzling Bunny Lee and King Tubby with his preternatural studio prowess.

This probably tells you all you need to know about the dub engineer, but if it doesn’t, just know that he’s a legend. Recently he decided that dubstep wasn’t heavy or delay-y enough, and went about reinterpreting tracks by Kode9, Loefah, King Midas Sound, Pinch, Mala, Guido and more on new album Scientist Launches Dubstep into Outer Space. According to Tectonic boss Pinch, who’s releasing the album, it’s the label’s proudest moment to date.

To celebrate this project’s being, we’ve got a pretty nifty selection of competition prizes for you. Two lucky winners will each recieve:

– A pair of tickets to tonight’s Fabric launch party with Scientist, Loefah and more
– A test press of the “dubstep originals” vinyl copy of Scientist Launches Dubstep… well ahead of release date, straight from Tectonic HQ
– A Scientist Launches Dubstep… t-shirt

Simply email us at competitions@thevinylfactory.com with the email subject ‘Bad Science’, and you’re in the draw.
