Rush Hour give classic Derrick May productions first official 12" release

Rush Hour – one of FACT’s top labels of 2010 – continues to keep us on our toes with its invaluable house and techno reissue programme.

The Amsterdam imprint’s latest offering is a limited edition 12″ featuring four Derrick May productions culled from the classic 1992 Relics – A Transmat Compilation (which also featured contributions from Carl Craig, James Pennington and Juan Atkins). The tracks have found their way onto random bootlegs over the years, but this is the first time that they’ve been gathered together in a high quality pressing.

Made under the aliases Rhythim Is Rhythim, Long Ago, Long Long Ago and Longer Than Long Ago, the tracks are about as iconic and affecting as Detroit techno gets, all wistful synth melodies, hectoring basslines and tough, tricksy drum programming. The 12″, entitled Relics Sampler and credited to Mayday, is out now in a one time run of 1000.
