Steven Blush, author of American Hardcore: A Tribal History, has uploaded 911 tracks by his favourite bands to his website for free download.

Collected under the banner 24 Hours of Hardcore Punk, the artists featured are all from the 1981-6 US punk explosion that Blush’s book takes as its subject, and include familiar names such as Hüsker Dü, Beastie Boys, Millions Of Dead Cops, Flipper and Bad Brains. Each track is listed with the name of its performer, its city of origin, and the release from which its taken. Even if you’re not interested in the music, it’s worth scanning your eye over the incredible titles – ‘Slam, Spit, Cut Your Hair, Kill Your Mom’, ‘The Right To Be Poor And Radical’, ‘Fuck You Brooke Shields’, ‘Anti-Pac Man’ and, er, ‘A Child And His Lawnmower’ are some of our favourites. The band names are similarly inspired: Ultra Violence, Media Boys, Russian Meatsquats, Vatican Commandos, (honestly) Bollocks. Bollocks. Brilliant.
