The first line-up announcements for the 2011 edition of Field Day have been made.

A number of confirmed acts have been named via Facebook over the course of the last few hours, and are now listed on the festival’s official site.

Arguably the most exciting booking is John Cale (pictured) – if his recent concerts are anything to go by, it seems safe to assume that the former Velvet Underground man will be performing his classic solo LP Paris 1919 (we certainly hope so, anyway).

Hypnagogic pop junkies will be pleased to hear that Ariel Pink and Ducktails are coming to town, with Oneohtrix Point Never and Hype Williams bringing the trippier, more synth-oriented fare. Post-rock perennials Tortoise are on board, as are The Horrors, Matthew Dear, Konono No.1 and the world’s preeminent party-starter, Omar Souleyman.

Electrelane are set to make a welcome return to the fray, while bass-heads are treated to sets from Actress, Pearson Sound AKA Ramadanman, Mount Kimbie and Roska.

Gruff Rhys, Cocknbullkid, The Coral, Wild Beasts, Willy Mason, Factory Floor, Mark Kozelek, Trophy Wife, Twin Shadow and the mighty Sun Ra Arkestra complete the line-up as it stands; many more names are to be added in the coming weeks and months.

Field Day 2011 takes place on August 6 in London E6. More information and tickets here.
