I also feel the the notion of parody is too strongly focused on in this review. There is an obvious use of cliche sounds borrowed from commercial rap/pop etc, but there is some seriously beautiful, deep music being made here.

Could this be similar to jj’s KILLS mixtape in its distanced exploration/comment of the America’s current pop aesthetic?
A talented artist seems to have in his impressions of current pop/rap and run them through a compressed prism: revealing a chaotic post-pop landscape of found sounds. As if the pop world were trapped in a mall and he turned the mall into a jungle.

Unless I’m mistaken, Ferraro doesn’t talk about Bebetune$ in that interview at all – so what would consulting it change?

I think there’s pretty obviously an element of parody about Bebetune$ – look at the name, the imagery, or the “swag” calls. The point about the mixdowns/lo-fi is probably a fair one, but listen to ‘Nero Cea$er’ – I don’t see how that’s not a straight rip of Drake and/or The Weeknd.

yeah , review kinda show’s FACT is not to with it anymore. How can this be a joke? Is the guy reviewing the recording hanging out with James? This is actually really real. I can’t wait to see the photo’s of James Ferraro , Lil Wayne , Drake , and Eminem having Lunch … then I guess the joke would be on the writer? James Ferraro is a class above most artist these days … it’s really fair to say that. Just cause his out put is above us , let’s not condense it to say this is a joke … this is really real. I feel soul all over this. James Ferro = LEGEND … let’s see what is next! When James Blake came out with a soul album did we say it’s a joke , is a race a factor here? I hope not.

Really don’t see this as being as negative/critical as the review makes out. Certainly overreaching to claim that james fuckin’ ferraro has made something lo fi as a statement against quality control. You do know this guy made about 1000000 records with zero production values before Far Side Virtual, right?
