The Diddy Dirty Money project just keeps on giving. On the 2010 release of the epic Last Train To Paris album, Diddy’s insistence that singer-songwriters Dawn Richard and Kalenna Harper deserved as much attention as himself was dismissed by many as hot air – but both their integral contributions to the trio’s material and now their own solo work have firmly dispelled those suspicions.

Harper bided her time for longer than Richard, but as debuts go you don’t get much more forceful or confrontational than the ultra-ratchet ‘Go To Work’. The beat’s a punch-up of pistol-whipping snares and knockout bass, and Kalenna plunges in with her fists flying: voice distorted through sheer outrage, she cusses out everyone she can think of in caps-locked, increasingly ridiculous non sequiturs (“SHAKIN’ IN THEY BOOTS LIKE I’M SNOOP FROM THE WIRE”, “TIRED OF YOU WAFFLE HOUSE TAKIN’-OUT BITCHES  – SHUT THE FUCK UP ‘FORE YOU BE DOIN’ DISHES” etc.) Obviously, she emerges from the scrum victorious.
