Diddy may have already conquered (well, sort of) the worlds of music, aftershave, denim and reality TV, but his latest venture may well be the Bad Boy founder’s most ambitious yet.
According to Broadcasting & Cable [via Music Week], Diddy plans to launch his own music-themed cable network by the end of 2012. The name of the channel has been revealed as Revolt, and the planned launch date is 12/12/12.
The channel will, apparently, be “a music and music news channel with an urban skew” with “some describing it [we’re not sure who that “some” actually entails) as the old days of MTV, but for more of the African American audience”. Former MTV programming chief Andy Schuon is reportedly involved, while Comcast and Time Warner Cable are rumoured to be distributing.
A TWC spokesperson said the subscription TV operator has had “some discussions” regarding Revolt and Diddy, but did not have a comment at this time.
Here’s hoping it snaps up Love and Hip-Hop, sharpish.
