M.I.A. has apologised over her middle finger gesture at the weekend’s Superbowl performance, but Madonna is apparently still livid.

According to today’s Sun newspaper (so take it how you will), a source from M.I.A.’s camp claimed that “[M.I.A.] wasn’t thinking. She was caught in the moment and she’s incredible sorry.”

The incident came during Sunday’s half-time show at the NFL showdown, where Madonna teamed up with M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj for a twelve minute performance that included the trio’s new single ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’, which will also feature on Madonna’s new album MDNA. The NFL and NBC, the network who aired the Superbowl, effectively spent yesterday pointing the finger at each other, while Madonna is supposedly furious at the whole incident.

Metro also report that M.I.A. has been slammed by The Parents Television Council, who’ve called her “selfish” and “desperate”. Despite all this – and let’s face it, despite the fact that ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’ is awful – M.I.A.’s new single ‘Bad Girls’, produced by Danja, is the best thing that she’s done in a while. It’s also got a pretty good video, which you can watch here.
