Leeds’ Mistamen have been pushing a heavyweight brand of UK house for a couple of years now that, refreshingly, only takes cues from the most danceable aspects of UK music – namely UK garage, Funky and bassline house. On ‘Daylight Robbery’, a highlight from the duo’s new Cardiac Arrest EP, the latter of those three sounds is in the spotlight, with a squealing bassline that fans of DJ Pantha, DJ Q, T2 etc should be right at home with and shades of Addison Groove in the sample-chopping. This is music aimed solely at the DJs and dancers; anyone else is a bonus.
