The-Dream has given an update on his infinitely-anticipated, constantly-delayed new album (originally scheduled for release last year).

For one, the title’s changed: Love IV – Diary of a Madman is now going to be simply called Love IV MMXII. For two, the first official single from the album, ‘Roc’, has been given an iTunes release date of March 6, and has a pretty great video which you can watch at the end of this post.

In a new interview with Billboard, The-Dream – real name Terius Nash – describes the video as “really natural”. “I just wanted to have fun and go back to those 90s videos where it’s always like you got the camera for the first time”, he continues, “Like, ‘Oh shit! Let’s just shoot this shit! Let’s see what happens!’

“We had a house down there for one part of it, and another part, it was this theatre that has all these old games, like the ones that you would probably know from childhood,” he continues. “We were walking in there just to go to a movie, and I was like, ‘Hold up… oh shit! This is old school! This is like Six Flags!'”

When quizzed about the status of Love IV MMXII, the follow-up to 2010’s inconsistent but often incredible Love King, Nash claims that he’s “always finished every week until I add another song … I have so many songs, I have to think about where to put songs. The album Love IV itself in its entirety is really great. I’ve lived with it for a long time, and it doesn’t get on my nerves yet, which is a great sign.”

He also reveals that he’s working on eight songs for Pusha T’s next album, and will be collaborating more with r’n’b up-and-comer Casha, who appeared on 1977, Dream’s free album from last year released under his birth name.
