Gilles Peterson, whose iconic, long-running and widely syndicated Worldwide show was recently dropped from BBC Radio 1, has found a new home.

Peterson, who was one of several Radio 1 jocks unceremoniously ejected in a shake-up by station controller Ben Cooper, has joined the Saturday schedule of BBC 6 Music. His new show, made by independent production company Somethin’ Else, will broadcast 3pm-6pm on Saturdays, and will offer his customary blend of “soul, jazz, hip-hop and dance”.

According to The Guardian, Liz Kershaw loses an hour of her existing show to accommodate Peterson, with a new 1pm-3pm slot, while Jon Holmes’ show will now run 10am-1pm. The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show has been brought forward by an hour to 6pm-9pm, making room for Tom Robinson’s new 9pm-midnight show.
