Motion Sickness Of Time Travel announces new album

Editions Mego continue to crank out records, singles and oddball sub-labels at an intimidating rate.

The latest addition to their roster is Rachel Evans, better known as Motion Sickness Of Time Travel. Her 2010 cassette Seeping Through The Veil Of The Unconscious, a surprisingly focused collection of ambient excursions and muffled EBM, captured hearts and minds in the FACT office. 2011’s Luminaries & Synastry, by contrast, showed Evans reining in her more fanciful impulses and refining her sound. In May, Mego offshoot Spectrum Spools will gift us Evans’ latest astral transmission under the Motion Sickness moniker.

The self-titled 2XLP set consists of four tracks, each breaking the twenty minute mark. The label promise something of a volte face in sound: expect “a shift from the murky, mysterious haze of the older recordings into a highly addictive concentrate of airy tones and gem-like glow, each track forming a universal sky-map”. You can view the is-it-a-log-no-wait-it’s-a-squid cover art above.

Motion Sickness Of Time Travel is released on May 15 via Spectrum Spools.

1. The Dream (24:32)
2. The Center (24:42)
