Vessel’s new EP, Standard, is better than standard; it’s very good indeed.

The Bristol-based producer, real name Seb Gainsborough, has signed to Tri Angle for his upcoming debut album, but that doesn’t mean he’s holding all his best material back – Standard, due to be released on Left_Blank, comprises three compelling, confident tracks of darkling house and techno. The low-slung, noir-ish title track is the highlight, but the brighter ‘Merge’ and enchantingly out-there ‘Zero’ are every inch its equals.
