Shackleton recently surprised us all with a ravishing new release.

The new box set contains a lengthy CD composition (Music For The Quiet Hour) and a trilogy of new 12″ records (The Drawbar Organ EPs). The tracks all emerged from Shackleton’s experiments with an Italian drawbar organ module, and show the Berlin resident on his most exploratory form yet.

A clip of Drawbar Organ track ‘Katyusha’ has just been uploaded to Soundcloud, and gives an insight into the new set. Those familiar ethnographic signifiers are still at play, but there’s a jauntiness to proceedings you might not readily associate with the Woe To The Septic Heart man. The organ, loud and clear, is a conspicuous addition to Shackleton’s moody sound palette.
