Almost three years after his untimely death, Michael Jackson still has the power to open even the most capacious of wallets.

50-100 items from Michael Jackson’s costume collection are to go on sale later this year. NME report that Beverley Hills auction house Julien’s Auctions will host the sale on December 2. Jacko’s iconic crystal glove is expected to go for $400,000 (or £252,540).

The collection includes jackets used in the ‘Bad’ and ‘Beat It’ videos, customised shirts and a belt made of gold. The items will be exhibited around the world prior to their sale – stops are set to be made in the USA, South America, Europe and Asia.

A spokesperson at the auction house said that Jackson’s “wardrobe dictated many of the styles throughout the last few decades. Jackson played a very intimate role in the designs and completion of every costume and piece of clothing he wore both on stage and in his personal life.”

Thankfully, the event is all in aid of a good cause. Proceeds from the sales are to go to Guide Dogs Of America and Las Vegas’ Nathan Adelson Hospice. There are, of course, more questionable ways to pay tribute to Jackson’s legacy than purchasing some of his second-hand garb.
