Lo-fi adventurer Gary  War is strapping up for a new LP of excursions into pop’s lunatic fringes.

War was responsible for 2008’s lamentably underrated New Rayveonport, a diverse set of lo-fi and highly idiosyncratic psych-pop. Follow-up Horribles Parade, released on Sacred Bones, took War’s penchant for obtuseness to borderline fetishistic levels: on tracks like ‘Highspeed Drift’, War’s voice was distorted into oblivion. War’s last musical move came in the form of Human Teenager, his collaborative project with Taylor Richardson (and very good it was too).

War is now set to return with a new album, titled Jared’s Lot. Spectrum Spools, also responsible for the Human Teenager record, will be in charge of distribution. The album promises to be the apotheosis of War’s sweet’n’sour sound: expect punchy little songs augmented with all manner of bizarro touches and unlikely imperfections. You can read our interview with War and Richardson here.

Jared’s Lot is due on July 24.
