Following on from the announcement of Channel Orange, his major label debut proper, Frank Ocean has unveiled the lead track from the album.

If Ocean’s startlingly bold debut Nostalgia, Ultra illustrated the singer’s formidable ambition, ‘Pyramids’ shows Ocean pushing his craft in just about every conceivable way. Length? We’re talking a Weeknd-beating 10 minutes. Scale? What with the mythological references and the skyscraper synths, Ocean’s never sounded this widescreen. Sonics? Only Ocean’s kitchen sink survives intact: buzzsaw synths contend with pealing horns and twinkling harmonics, and Ocean tilts from The-Dream’s brand of euphorics to ‘Climax’-style patter. Which begs the question: how on earth did he build this? [via Pitchfork]
