Maybe they’re trying to catch the eye of the Scottish Album Of The Year judges, but Mogwai aren’t done with 2011 album Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will yet.

The vintage Scottish combo have assembled a host of likeminded artists to remix tracks from their last album. Exclaim report that the results will be collected on remix anthology A Wrenched Virile Law, due out later this year.

Contributors to the disc include Canadian digital manipulator Tim Hecker – himself fresh from collaborations with Stephen O’ Malley and Oneohtrix Point Never – and Godflesh/JK Flesh man Justin Broadrick. Xander Harris and The Soft Moon will also both be contributing takes. Zombi, Umberto, Cyclob and RM Hubbert round out the list.

The album – currently sans a tracklisting, artwork and release date – is their first full remix collection since 1998’s Kicking A Dead Pig. Following on from 2006’s Zidane soundtrack, Mogwai also have another sports-indebeted film project on the go. Hudson River Project is a collaborative feature with cyclist James Bowthorpe, and enjoyed its premiere back in April.
