You are a fukkin’n genious. 1st: when you buy an album, you give money to the company, the artist barely receives a cent out of it. Artists make money from live shows. 2nd: what about sold-out/unavailable records? 3rd: I have about 300 CD’s+300 Vinyl records (12″LP) and 400 Vinyl records (7″) plus hundreds of tapes, and everything is in my country. When I moved to Japan of course I couldn’t bring anything. By your statement I should buy ALL again? Give me a break, stupid asshole.

Ha, people still think that buying an album is supporting an artist?
Only idiots think that. Every time you buy an album all you happen to be doing is giving the record label money, the band might make a Nickel (if that) off of every album.

Want to support an artist? Go to a concert and buy a shirt.

Odd, Valve seem to have done pretty much that with Steam. There’s a reason the most pirated games are the ones that Aren’t on Valve’s service.
As the poster above said, adapt or die. Forcing outdated and irrelevant business models onto the internet will never work.

Listening to music without supporting its artists is the same thing as
theft. The music industry may become more internet-savvy, but they could
never adapt to piracy in any form. This is not the industry’s fault, it’s yours. It’s your fault for contributing to the total upheaval of an entire industry.
