Kristina Records is celebrating its 1st birthday this Sunday, 1 July.

The store, at 44 Stoke Newington Road in East London, has made itself indispensable over the past 12 months, stocking a terrific range of new and second-hand stock – covering everything from deep house to the finest 80s and 90s indie-pop – and hosting in-store live shows and DJ sets from the likes of Patrice Scott, Raime, Auntie Flo, Heatsick, Paco Sala, Dexter and more.

On Sunday, from 6pm, they’ll be playing host to a live in-store performance from Vic Godard’s seminal art-rock outfit Subway Sect – now in their 36th year of existence – and a DJ set from London indie legends Comet Gain. Entry is free, and there’ll be an extra stack of bargain records on sale.

Later in the month – July 21 to be precise – there’ll be a “a very special after hours birthday party in a very special space” – keep an eye on the shop’s Facebook page for updates.
