Here’s another gem from Rob Booth’s sprawling Electronic Explorations compilation.

We’ve already featured Distal’s top-notch squirmer ‘Ralph Muggins Acid Depot’. The latest featured track to hit the net is a contribution from Machinedrum, aka long-time hip-hop/dance tinkerer Travis Stewart.

‘Luster’ sees Machinedrum putting his footwork influences aside and focusing in on UK Hardcore. Over tumbling breakbeats, Stewart goes heavy on the synth stabs and ‘nuum signifiers. This definitely isn’t Zomby-grade revivalism, though: the reverb and the gossamer-thin vocal line give the whole thing an eerie, elegiac quality. [via Little White Earbuds]
