Good review; says a lot of things that needed to be said. One of the first things I thought when I heard Lucifer was “I’m really happy you have a new son but basing songs on him makes for boring music.”

Kudos, John. A brave and very well-written review.

Seems like either Peaking Lights really *are* the new God (if you believe any/every “cool” tastemaking bod in the US/UK), or, while I’m sure Aaron and Indra are lovely people, half their audience is too worried about what others will think to actually admit that really – Peaking Lights are pretty fucking boring, musically.

In a scene where having the “incorrect” opinion about a band that seemingly can do no wrong weighs heavily on your hipness credit, and where saying anything negative about this particular band seems to amount to sacrilege, this may well be a bit of an “Emperor’s new clothes” situation.
