Well-regarded electronic shapeshifters Darkstar have locked down their forthcoming LP.

The trio have taken to Twitter to announce that their new record has been finished. Their message was simple and concise: “we just finished an album”. The record will be the band’s first since they skipped over to Warp Records last year.

Darkstar began life as duo Aiden Whalley and James Young, releasing vintage singles like ‘Aidy’s Girl Is A Computer’ and ‘Need You’ on Hyperdub. The group, augmented by singer James Buttery, then reinvented themselves as an urbane synth-pop combo, releasing 2010′s well-received NorthAs reported, the group have been working in collaboration with former Spectrum/Dakota Suite/Jazz Butcher member and longtime production go-to Richard Formby. Kompakt loop-worshipper The Field has also been involved in the sessions. [via Dummy]
