A demo of ‘Baby,’ by M.I.A. and Madonna collaborator William Orbit, has leaked. And it’s news to M.I.A.

The sparsely-produced track finds M.I.A singing and rapping over electronic pulses and a bit of screeching guitar, asking “Can you make a woman out of me?” However, M.I.A. addressed Twitter to say that she’s never heard this version, which is “crazy different” from what she wrote for Madonna.

In addition, she says “this song wasnt recorded for myLP> so its not complete > besides i now have way more to say to my man” and that she might release her version of the song. For now, though, it appears that this take on ‘Baby’ will have to suffice.

M.I.A. is set to release Matangi on Interscope this fall, her first effort since signing with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
