Like fellow debutante Karriem Riggins, Cid Rim is a jazz drummer turned beatmaker. Where Riggins goes in for boom-bap, however, Cid Rim specialises in dreamscapes.

The Vienna native has previously put out a split EP with The Clonious and a solo 12″ , and has reportedly earned his bread drumming for Dorian Concept (who, in turn, remixed Cid Rim’s ‘Draw’, getting a credit on Rustie’s Radio 1 Essential Mix in the process). Now part of the LuckyMe stable, he’s due to release his debut album next month. The label have released a charming little trailer from the album, and it’s the polar opposite of their high-impact teaser clip for TNGHT’s debut EP.

‘Log Out Of Bounds’ invokes Boards Of Canada circa The Campfire Headphase: curdled synths contend with folksy instrumentation, and the whole thing is shot through with an optimistic streak. As the windswept video suggests, Cid Rim’s a much earthier proposition than your Angos or your Lunices. Pop over to Mr. Rim’s Soundcloud, and you get much the same impression.
