Lil Wayne’s discography veers from the inspired to the wretched, but pretty much everyone agrees that Dedication 2 belong to the former camp.

The series, produced with DJ Drama, have not only been landmarks in Wayne’s career, but key releases in online mixtape culture in general. At the time, 2006’s Dedication 2 was arguably the highest profile freebie release of the decade thus far; ‘Where Da Cash At’ and ‘Georgia…Bush’, among others, showed Wayne perfecting his freewheeling approach. 2008’s AutoTune-tastic Dedication 3, meanwhile, didn’t get the critical cache, but still proved to be one of that year’s more significant free tapes.

The New Orleans native is now set to release the next instalment in the series in August. On Sunday, the rapper posted a message to his Twitter account which read “Dedikation 4 komin next month”. DJ Drama followed through with a message reading “Been sending alotta beats to the mixtape weezy…”. It’s not the only Weezy release on the way soon: he’s set to reach new heights of screwiness on I Am Not A Human Being 2. [via Complex]
