The Bug delivers on his promise of “that Acid Ragga shit.

Kevin Martin explores lovers’ rock as one third of King Midas Sound, and now one of his other fixations will soon see the light of day. The Bug’s latest project, as the imprint suggests, finds the common ground between acid house and ragga dancehall. On ‘Can’t Take This No More’ and ‘Rise Up,’ The Bug proves that sub-bass riddims and acid squelch go together just fine.

Each song is defined by its vocals, with the gravely toasting of Daddy Freddy on the former and the ghostly Inga Copeland (of Hype Willaims) on the latter. A 7-inch featuring both songs is out August 27 via Ninja Tune; for now, this preview will have to suffice.
