Inaugurated three years ago, Moogfest describes itself as a celebration of the “innovative spirit” of synth pioneer Bob Moog.

This year’s line-up comes closer than ever to reflecting the full spectrum of “electronic and visionary music” the festival purports to cover, much of it displaying the influence – at least indirectly – of Moog’s towering legacy.

Gracing an assortment of venues across downtown Asheville, North Carolina (Moog’s hometown) on the weekend of October 26-27, the line-up straddles leftfield pop, underground dance music and canonical hip hop. Among the chosen few are synthpop legend Thomas Dolby, Stephin Merritt’s Magnetic Fields, Santigold and Four Tet; techno and its children will have a strong showing, with Orbital, Richie Hawtin, Carl Craig and Pantha Du Prince making appearances; and the hip hop contingent will be headed up by GZA [pictured] performing Liquid Swords in its entirety.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday (August 10), and will be available – alongside full line-up info – here.
