Toronto’s Diamond Rings perform a set for KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic.

A project from the highly-styled John O’Regan, Diamond Rings is a nostalgia-heavy synthrock band. ‘Runaway Love,’ off the band’s upcoming album Free Dimensional, is a riff-and-synth rocker that owes a bit to The Cars.

Among the band’s 45 minute set was a cover of the Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Disarm,’ although O’Regan sounds more like Lou Reed than Billy Corgan (not a bad thing, mind you). The full stream is available below; ‘Disarm’ begins at about the 24-minute mark.
