What's astounding about the album is that, despite electing to use a thematically narrow pallet -subdued, murky, smeared asexual vocal parts -on each track, it doesn't blend into one, it doesn't seem repetitive or restrictive, it feels like he's riffing on a great idea to surprisingly fruitful effect. The tracks want unpeeling by the listener and I'm glad Steve Shaw noted the wealth of tiny flourishes, adornments and detail.

It is a bit like Burial without the clattering, naked urgency but I think that says more about the mood or emotional territory that Burial unexpectedly tapped into.

A review that chimed exactly with my thoughts on this disc.
