Factory Floor are currently cooking up their long, long awaited debut album, and they’ve just offered up a fascinating stopgap to tide us over.

The pumelling London trio will release their first LP proper on DFA early next year. In the interim, the band have just released a new 12″, containing two remixes of their cracking 2011 single ‘Two Different Ways’. The disc features a typically uncompromising interpretation from Perc and, on the flip, a remix by Cabaret Voltaire legend Richard H. Kirk.

For the most part, Kirk leaves the track fairly unmolested: Factory Floor’s squirming synth ostinato is still defiantly front and centre, and the motorik charge of the original drives ever onwards. Kirk settles for judicious embellishments – a blushing synth lead here, some fragmented vocals there – and a general air of scuzziness throughout. All in all, it’s a satisfying meeting of mercurial minds old and new [via Playground].
