Stream the new EP from psychedelic Brainfeeder associate Ras G

Astral explorer Ras G has just launched a new EP on Matthewdavid’s Leaving Records.

Ras G’s actually been knocking around since about 2005, when he made a splash – well, a gentle ripple – with the dreamy Overcast78 EP. At his best – 2008’s comparatively punchy Ghetto Sci-Fi (as Ras G & The Afrikan Space Program), or last year’s baked Dilla tribute Spacebase Is The Place on Poo-Bah – he’s easily one of the Brainfeeder stable’s more characterful associates.

The producer’s new seven-track El-Aylien Pt. II: C.razy A.lien EP (that’s a telling title right there) is a sequel of sorts to 2010’s El-Aylien Pt. I, also on Leaving. As Ras G records go, it’s one of his more opaque transmissions: like Wanda Group’s Cleaners earlier this year, it’s an elliptical set of boom-bap knocked out of whack, cobbled together from wayward radio signals and Raymond Scott-style machinesong.

Head to XLR8R to stream the EP. El-Aylien Pt. II: C.razy A.lien is out now.
