LA duo Gold and Soil announce dreamy debut LP on Non Projects, share a track

Gold and Soil is Anahita Navab (aka harpist Ana Caravelle) and Ryan York (aka beatmaker Asura).

The pair are both currently PHD candidates (Navab in Psychology and York Neuroscience, respectively), and a cerebral quality comes across in their collaborative efforts.

Along with contributing to LA’s ever-expanding beat scene as Asura, York is also a bassist and cellist who played on Zola Jesus’ Conatus. Ana Caravelle debuted in 2010 with Basic Climb, a more grounded take on Joanna Newsom’s harp-based psych folk.

The first effort from Gold and Soil, ‘Alone,’ is a radiant march, complete stutter-step beat, chiptune synths, and layers of Navab’s luscious vocals. Stream and download it below. Gold and Soil’s debut album is due out November 13 on Non Projects.
