The Renaissance Man adds “musician” to his growing list of art projects.

Rolling Stone premieres the nostalgic, Motown-inspired ‘Love in the Old Days’ by Daddy, a collaboration between Franco and musician Tim O’Keefe.

Franco offers a spoken-word soliloquy about the titular subject, focusing on how his parents fell in love. The poem has credentials: he earned a master’s degree in poetry at Warren Wilson College. The scholastically-minded actor also recently attended Yale and taught a class at NYU.

Watch the Franco-directed video for the song, a kaleidoscope-meets-Instagram clip that completes the nostalgia circuit. Daddy’s MotorCity EP comes out on September 25 and features Motown legend Smokey Robinson.

The EP’s cover art is below, featuring Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine, his costars in the upcoming Spring Breakers (a film allegedly based on Mad Decent rapper RiFF RaFF).
