Canadian producer CFCF is among the acolytes playing tribute to David Bowie on a new covers album

CFCF impressed with this year’s excellent Exercises LP. Ostensibly a tribute to 1960s architecture, Exercises was a deft, delicate collage of electronics and treated piano. Clash report that CFCF has taken on a very different type of assignment: covering David Bowie as part of a free compilation from Canadian label Paper Bag Records.

Paper Bag Records vs. The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars very much does what it says on the tin. An assortment of artists from the label’s roster have recreated the album track-by-track. CFCF teams up with Austra for ‘Soul Love’, indie-rockers Born Ruffians take on ‘Five Years’, twee folk revivalists The Acorn jump on ‘Suffragette City’, and ‘Noh-wave’ weirdos Yamantaka // Sonic Titan toss in non-album single ‘John, I’m Only Dancing’ to boot. Ziggy Stardust is now forty years old – happy birthday, Starman.

The album is available to grab hereExercises track ‘Exercise 3’ is below.
