Politically inclined New Yorkers Dead Prez are to return with their first album in eight years.

The duo of Stic.man and M-1 have released two albums to date, 2000’s moderately successful Let’s Get Free and 2004’s comparatively neglected Revolutionary But Gangsta. They remain, however, locked into the centripetal pull of their biggest hit, 2000’s indie rap smash ‘Hip Hop’.

Since Revolutionary But Gangsta, Dead Prez haven’t been entirely inactive, releasing two instalments of their Turn Off The Radio mixtape series. In some respects, they’ve been more present than you might initially imagine: Stic.man was recently outed as one of the covert collaborators/ghostwriters [delete as applicable] on Nas’ Untitled.

Exclaim report that the pair are now set to return with a new album. Information Age will drop on on Krian Music next month. In a statement – which, admittedly, reads a little like a corporate motivation leaflet – the pair celebrate the new deal. “We feel very positive about our joint venture with Krian. Dead Prez has always prided ourselves on our independence and integrity and we were able to form a partnership with Krian that can appreciate what Dead Prez’ significance to the culture is and has the capabilities to help us reach bigger goals with the Information Age album around the world. Team work makes the dream work!”

Lead track ‘A New Beginning’ is available to stream below. Information Age will arrive as a digital download on October 16. A physical version will follow tout de suite on October 22.
