Watch the trailer for The Comedy, James Murphy's acting debut

The former LCD Soundsystem frontman doesn’t know the meaning of retirement.

Since performing and documenting LCD Soundsystem’s final shows last April, here’s a partial list of what James Murphy has in the works: writing a novel, lecturing at RBMA, producing for Arcade Fire, and filming with Ron Howard.

Add “acting” to the list. Murphy will appear in The Comedy, starring alongside Adult Swim absurdists Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim. Despite its title, the film is a drama about the emptiness of irony in the age of hipsterism.

Watch the trailer for The Comedy below. The film is available via Video-On-Demand on October 24 and will be in theatres on November 9. The soundtrack features Gayngs and William Basinski, among others, and the tracklist is below. [via Pitchfork]
