Morphosis' Upperground Orchestra take on Theo Parrish on Third Ear Recordings remix EP

A new EP will see contemporary artists remoulding tracks from the vaults of house-leaning imprint Third Ear Records.

We certainly wouldn’t turn down a free pass to the London label’s warehouse: skewed house producer Wbeeza, dub-techno aficionado Brendon Moeller and all-round don Theo Parrish have all clocked up releases on the imprint over its decade-plus history. Juno Plus draw attention to Third Ear Re-Imagined, a fresh celebration of some of the label’s more notable creative successes.

Morphosis’ exploratory Upperground Orchestra project, Red Rack’em, XBF and Lorca were all given free rein to choose a favourite from the Third Ear catalogue to remix. The resulting 12″ features four new refixes of Third Ear tracks old and new. The pick of the bunch is Upperground Orchestra’s re-reading of Theo Parrish’s 2005 touchstone ‘Falling Up’ (notably remixed, of course, by Carl Craig). Ibex’s 2008 track ‘Spiritual War’ is given a refix by Red Rack’em. The more recent cuts to get reworked are Pirahnahead’s ‘Self Conscience’ (remixed by Lorca) and Benjamin Brunn’s lush, beatless ‘No Kicks’, revamped here by XDB.

Third Ear Re-Imagined will arrive later this month on Third Ear Recordings.

Tracklisting:
1. Ibex – Spiritual War (Red Rack’em Remake)
2. Benjamin Brunn – No Kicks (XDB Reshape)
3. Pirahnahead – Self Conscience (Lorca Music Remake)
4. Theo Parrish – Falling Up (Upperground Orchestra Re-Imagination)
