Kraftwerk nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, 2013 sees fans able to vote for the first time

Kraftwerk have been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2013.

The legendary German group, pioneers of electronic music and an inspiration for multiple decades’ worth of house, techno, general synthesiser music and the rest of it, are up against some stiff competition: N.W.A., Public Enemy, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Rush, Donna Summer, Randy Newman, The Meters, Chic, Heart, Albert King, The Marvelettes and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band are all also nominated, and only the top five vote-getters will be inducted into the Hall on April 18th, 2013.

Over 600 ballots are cast, mostly by members of the music industry, but for the first time, 2013’s class features a fans ballot. You can vote for that over at Rolling Stone‘s website.
