Back in 2010, legendary techno ensemble Model 500 returned with their first new material in over a decade.

Once the principal nom de plume of Juan Atkins, Model 500 re-emerged as a proper cream-of-Detroit supergroup, augmented by UR’s ‘Mad’ Mike Banks, Mark Taylor and DJ Skudge. The ‘OFI/Huesca’ disc, released on R&S, was carried by the wonderfully squirmy electro of the title cut.

Recently revived R&S arm Apollo – already home to Synkro’s Broken Promises disc and Jack Dixon’s promising You Won’t Let Me EP – are to release a five track EP of ‘OFI’ remixes. The tracklisting features a pair of nu-Apollo alumni: Synkro is on board, and Colonel Red (responsible for the lilting ‘Spaceface’) also contributes. Skewed house producer Sei A, Shadowchild & Horx and Indigo round out the selection. [via XLR8R]

The original version of ‘OFI’ is below. Juan Atkins’ FACT mix from earlier this year is available here.
